Format, Tiebreakers

There are 5 participating teams in Voyageurs Cup 2004: Calgary Mustangs, Edmonton Aviators, Montreal Impact, Toronto Lynx and Vancouver Whitecaps. Each team plays 2 matches (1 home, 1 away) against each other team, for a total of 8 matches (4 home, 4 away) per team and 20 matches overall. All of these matches are drawn from the 2004 A-League regular season.

In each match, 3 points are awarded for a win (even if it comes in extra time), 1 point is awarded for a draw, and 0 points are awarded for a loss (even if it comes in extra time). There are 4 participating teams in Women's Voyageurs Cup East 2004: Ottawa Fury, Montreal Xtreme, Sudbury Canadians and Toronto Inferno. Each team plays 2 matches (1 home, 1 away) against each other team, for a total of 6 matches (3 home, 3 away) per team and 12 matches overall. All of these matches are drawn from the 2004 W-League regular season.

In each match, 3 points are awarded for a win (even if it comes in extra time), 1 point is awarded for a draw, and 0 points are awarded for a loss (even if it comes in extra time). The four teams are ranked according to the total number of points obtained in all Women's Voyageurs Cup East 2004 matches.
