Ryan Lilien is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Computer Science, the Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research (CCBR), and the Banting and Best Department of Medical Research (Faculty of Medicine). Ryan received a B.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Chemistry from Cornell University. At Dartmouth, he received a Ph.D. in the Department of Computer Science and completed an M.D. at Dartmouth Medical School. Ryan started working in Computational Biology in 1996 while an undergraduate at Cornell University.

Outside the research lab Ryan is a hockey fanatic. Good thing he found his way to Toronto! Now if only he could combine his passion for ice hockey with computational biology... Perhaps there’s an ice-hockey gene? IHOC1? Better study the Canadian population! Beyond hockey, Ryan enjoys all genres of music (Vivaldi to Gangster Rap) and spicy food!
