ICS 280 BIOLOGICAL NETWORKS Code: 36793 Lectures: TuTh 2:00- 3:20p in SSPA 1165 This is a seminar course giving an introduction to basics of cellular networks analysis and modeling. We will be reading and discussing relevant papers in class. The course will cover the following topics related to cellular networks: 1. Types of networks: metabolic, signaling, protein-protein interaction. 2. Properties of networks: global and local. 3. Network models. 4. Sources of errors and biases in biological netowrks. 5. Network evolution. 6. From models to heuristic algorithms. Recommended text: Jurisica and Wigle, "Knowledge Discovery in Proteomics", CRC Press, 2005.
