Brief Biography

Allan Jepson received his B.Sc. in 1976 from the University of British Columbia and his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in 1980 from the California Institute of Technology. He then moved to a postdoctoral position in the Mathematics Department at Stanford University. In 1982 he joined the faculty at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto, where he has been a full professor since 1991. His current research interests span a range of topics in computer vision, including image grouping, image segmentation, and motion estimation.

Reasons for the Plus in Allan₊

• First, the plus says thank you to the wonderful soul who gave me the gift of one her kidneys on Nov. 26, 2008.
• Second, I hope it raises awareness of organ donation. It can be a gift of life.
• Third, it is a reminder that I am immune compromised and have a harder time fighting off infections. So please take care to avoid direct contact with me when you are sick (and I will give you the same consideration when I am sick).
• Finally, the plus denotes that I am now a significant revision of the old "Allan", although we have no plans for an Allan₊₊
